The kernels of corn grown in Africa have a voluptuousness to them, a difference in shape from the native corn of other countries like the United States. Everywhere there are dimensions that illustrate the sensual distinctiveness of the African continent such as the Ghana coffee table, which was designed to evoke the roundness of these kernels. Made of acrylic crushed agate that has been treated to an aged cream finish, the table’s interior cut-out has been treated to a gold leaf appliqué and its lower third has been carved in a corn pattern that fades to mimic chaff blowing in the wind.
